Antimykotika

An antifungal medications are a category of medications that are used to combat fungal infections. They can be used topically as an ointment, orally (taken as a pill) or given intravenously (IV). Depending on the type of antifungal, it may be a prescription only medication, or available over the counter. Most fungal infections are minor or irritating, but not life-threatening, such as athlete's foot or a vaginal yeast infection. They are typically treated easily with over the counter or prescription antifungals. Yeast that reaches the blood can be extremely serious, causing sepsis and conditions such as meningitis.
