Amoxil (Amoxicillin)
Brand name: Amoxil
Generic name: Amoxicillin
Pharmaceutical form: capsules of 250 and 500 mg.
Description:
hard gelatin capsules, size 2; housing - purple, cap - black color.
Ingredients:
Amoxicillin trihydrate equivalent to 250 mg and 500 mg of amoxicillin.
Other ingredients: Purified talc.
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Antibiotic, semisynthetic penicillin [J01CA04].
Pharmacological properties:
Amoxicillin - a broad spectrum antibiotic from the group of semi-synthetic penicillins, acts bactericidal, collapses under the action of beta-lactamases. Active against gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms such as Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Clostriduim tetani, C. Welchii, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus anthracis, Listeria monocytogenes, Helicobacter pylori. Less active against: Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella typhi, Shigella sonnei, Vibrio cholerae. Not active against organisms producing beta-lactamase, Pseudomonas, indole-positive Proteus, Serratia, Enterobacter.
After oral amoxicillin is absorbed rapidly and almost completely (93%), acid-resistant. Food intake has almost no effect on the absorption of the drug. The maximum concentration of active substance in the plasma is observed after 1-2 hours.
About 17% of amoxicillin bound to plasma proteins. Amoxycillin penetrates the mucous membranes, bone and eye fluid, sputum in therapeutically effective concentrations. The concentration of amoxicillin in the bile exceeds its concentration in blood plasma by 2-4 times. In the amniotic fluid and umbilical vessels of the concentration of amoxicillin is 25-30% of its level in blood plasma of pregnant women. Amoxicillin poorly crosses the blood-brain barrier, but with the inflammation of the meninges (eg, meningitis) concentration in the cerebrospinal fluid is around 20% of the concentration in blood plasma.
Amoxicillin is partially metabolized, most of its metabolites are inactive against microorganisms.
Amoxicillin is eliminated primarily by the kidneys, about 80% by tubular excretion, 20% - by glomerular filtration.
In the absence of renal dysfunction half life of amoxicillin is 1-1.5 hours in preterm, newborns and children under 6 months. - 3-4 hours when impaired renal function (creatinine clearance equal to or less than 15 ml / min) half-life of amoxicillin increases and reaches at 05.08 hours, anuria
Indications:
Infectious-inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms susceptible to the drug:
infections of the respiratory system;
infection of the genitourinary system;
infections of the digestive tract;
infections of skin and soft tissue.
Dosage and administration:
The drug is taken orally.
Dosing regimen determined individually, taking into account the severity of the disease, the sensitivity of the pathogen to the drug, the patient's age.
Single dose for adults 0.5 g three times a day. In severe disease the dose was increased to 1.0 g 3 times a day.
Children aged 5 to 10 years are designated by 0,25 g three times a day;
- 2 to 5 years - 0,125 g 3 times a day;
- 2 years - a rate of 0.02 g per kg of body weight, calculated daily dose divided into 3 doses.
Course of treatment 5-12 days.
For the treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea appoint 3.0 g of the drug at the reception, in conjunction with amoxicillin is desirable to appoint 1.0 g probenitsida.
Patients with impaired renal function (creatinine clearance below 10 ml / min) dose is reduced by 15-50%, or increase the interval between doses up to 24 hours.
Side effects:
From the digestive tract: rare - diarrhea, itching around the anus; possible dyspepsia, in some cases - and hemorrhagic pseudomembranous colitis.
From the urinary tract: rare - the development of interstitial nephritis;
For part of the blood: rare - agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia.
Allergic reactions: skin reactions, mainly in the form of specific maculopapular rash, rarely - erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and in some cases - anaphylactic shock, angioedema.
Contraindications:
hypersensitivity to the drug and other beta-lactam antibiotics;
Infectious mononucleosis and lymphatic leukemoid reaction type.
Interaction with other drugs:
Probenitsid, phenylbutazone, oskifenbutazon, to a lesser extent - acetylsalicylic acid and sulfinpyrazone inhibit tubular secretion of penicillins, which leads to an increase in half-life and concentration of amoxicillin in plasma.
Amoxicillin is valid only for breeding bacteria, so it should not be administered concurrently with antimicrobial agents acting bacteriostatic.
In the presence of the positive tests on the sensitivity of the pathogen amoxicillin can be used in combination with other bactericidal antibiotics (cephalosporins, aminoglycosides).
Method of production:
Capsules of 250 and 500 mg.
Storage Conditions:
In a dry, dark place at a temperature not exceeding 25 °
Expiration date:
2 years. Do not use after expiry date.
